Mr. José A. Valdez is Founder and Principal of CORPORA-GOV LLC. He is an economist with more than 20 years of experience in private sector participation in infrastructure, privatization, corporatization and regulation in Latin America, the Caribbean, Africa and the Middle East. As Chief of Party based in Amman-Jordan, he led a team of consultants for the design and implementation of the successful corporatizations of Miyahuna, the water company in Amman, and Aqaba Water in the southern region of Jordan. He participated in corporatizations processes in multiple water utilities in Ethiopia and Nigeria as part of USAID assistance programs. As Undersecretary for Investments in the Capitalization Program in Bolivia he had a key role in the reform of the country’s main infrastructure sectors including water, electricity, telecommunications, hydrocarbons, airlines and railroads, the implementation of a multi-sector regulatory structure and the reform of the pension system. Under the Bolivian capitalization program he led the implementation of employees shareholders participation for all strategic companies. He holds a MSc in Agricultural Economics from Oxford University, England and a Bachelor and Masters degrees from Louvain University in Belgium and the Catholic University of Bolivia.
